Email - how much does this matter to you? A lot isn't it? I'm sure most of you have a Gmail account, because it is one of the best web based email. Google backs up regularly and has some of the biggest redundant data centers in the world. But you can run into serious problems if you lose access to your Gmail account, it gets hacked or if the services are down.
It is a good measure to take a backup of your Gmail account for safety and offline use. In this tutorial I will show you two ways to backup your Gmail account. Online and offline backup (to the hard-drive). You can choose any method which is convenient to you.
Also, you must activate 2-step verification for your account for an extra layer of security to your account which will prevent hackers from accessing your account if they come to know your password.

Backup Gmail account to Hard-Drive: (Offline)
To backup your Gmail account on your hard drive you simply have to download this software called Gmail backup. Open this and enter your full Gmail log in credentials, where you want to store the backup (Backup folder) along with the start and end date.
After you have entered your log in details, click the backup button, the backup process will start. (Note: it may take a few minutes to a few hours, depending upon the volume of emails and speed of your internet connection.)
After the backup is done you can see all your emails in the backup folder you specified during the process. You can open the downloaded emails in Outlook express or any other email program. You don't have to worry about your attachments, all emails retain them.

Backupify: (Online)
Backupify is a cloud based backup data provider for Gmail and other services. You can backup your Gmail account data online using Backupify. TrueSwitch for Hotmail: (Online)
TrueSwitch is a reliable option for copying your emails from your Gmail account to Hotmail. To start off you need a Hotmail account. If you don't have an account, you can easily create one by pointing your browser to Hotmail. To start with the backup you need to navigate to TrueSwith website and enter your Gmail and Hotmail account log in credentials, if you have a relatively large Gmail Inbox, the backup process might take up to 24 hours.
You can also use this method to if you want to shift to Hotmail.
