Google Can Now Block Blogger/BlogSpot Blogs per-Country Basis

Google has recently announced that they can now block specific blogs on Blogger/BlogSpot for individual countries. Twitter had made a similar announcement some time back that it can now block some tweets on per-country basis. This will allow Google to block content on specific countries which violates the local law while keeping it online to the rest of the world.

Blogger Redirecting Visitors to Country Specific URLs

Visitors from India who visit any Blogger (BlogSpot) blog will now be redirected to a .in domain of the URL. Which means if you blog's URL is http://www.example.blogspot.com visitors from India will be redirected to http://www.example.blogspot.in. This change is currently only visible to visitors of India, Australia and New Zealand and is slowly rolled out for users of other countries.

Google To Rebrand Blogger And Picasa

Google is in the news again. Google is planning to redesign all its brands and now the plans are to rebrand all non-Google name brands like Picasa and Blogger. Its time to say goodbye to Blogger and Picasa because Google plans to rename them as Google products. Blogger and Picasa are one of Google's most popular services and its likely that Blogger would be renamed as "Google Blogs" and Picasa as "Google Photos". It is also expected that Google will rebrand several other Google products but not YouTube, probably due to the failure of Google Videos.

New Blogger Interface Now Available To All Blogger In Draft Users

Blogger today announced its new interface which has a new elegant design for Blogger In Draft users. The new interface was much awaited by everyone and was only available to a few handful people who were picked during the initial testing period. The new interface is completely different in design from the previous interface. Unlike the previous outdated design, the new design is clean and looks elegant. There is no activation or sign up process involved to get the new dashboard for yourself, simply login into your Blogger account from draft.blogger.com to get the new user interface.

Add Custom Favicon To Blogger From Dashboard

Finally Blogger has an option to add a custom favicon for our blog, with which you can replace the existing Blogger favicon with your own. Previously this option was not available, and to add a favicon an HTML script had to be added before the </head> tag of our template, which did not replace the Blogger's favicon. Now you can easily upload a custom favicon of your choice from your Blogger dashboard. [Note: This option is currently only available for Blogger in draft users].

Google has recently rolled out "Dynamic Views" for Blogger. The dynamic views were released a month ago. Currently 5 dynamic views are available for your blog and the new views utilize HTML5, CSS3 and AJAX for a better experience. The template views include: Flipcard view, Mosaic view, Sidebar view, Snapshot view and Timeslide View. To try these views on your blog simply type: www.yourblog.com/view and select the type of view you want. The views have a professional layout and good effects but currently do not have support for ads.

Android App for Blogger

Blogger now has an Android app available at the Android Market. Good news for people using the Blogger service. Now you can easily publish posts and create drafts directly from your Android device. If you are an Android user you can download the app. from the Android Market. The app. lets you blog from your device, you can now compose new blog posts and attach photos to them easily, it does not have the comment moderation feature, and some features are yet to come out. At the moment, the Blogger app is only available for Android devices but Google is planning to roll out the Blogger app for other platforms too.
