Microsoft officially launched the first developer preview of the awaited operating system Windows 8. The Windows 8 is a cross platform operating system targeting mainly the tablets section based on the metro UI. Microsoft yesterday on the 13th September unveiled its upcoming operating system.
The attendees of the conference were presented with a Tablet built by Samsung running on the Windows 8 developer preview running on an Intel Core i5 1.6GHz dual core processor, 11.6" touch-screen display with 4GB RAM and 64GB SSD.

Machines capable of running Windows 7 can also run Windows 8 smoothly on their system, the minimum system requirements for running Windows 8 are:
- 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor.
- 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit).
- 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit).
- DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.
Note: The product is still in beta so it is recommended that you use it for testing purposes only. The software may stop working at any time, so you may consider installing it on a separate partition, click here for a tutorial on how to install Windows 8 from a USB bootable flash drive. The Windows 8 developer preview comes as an ISO image, so you would have to burn the ISO image to a DVD to install it on your system.
